Are fat people a) less literate b) less tolerant than thinner people?..I ask because...?

...nearly on a daily basis I see the ubiquitous.."How can I loose weight ..." questions on YA. When I point out that the word should be 'lose' and that 'loose' is the opposite of 'tight', I get a torrent of thumbs-down and sometimes abusive e-mails.
