Anyone know about bloodwork in pregnancy?
I agree with doc. An increased WBC count can be normal during pregnancy. To determine if it is an infection, though, we need to know the counts of the individual types of white cells. It's listed as percentages (%), and absolutes (#). Usually it is under the total white count, which you said went from 13-20. Even better would be to list the amounts for both tests. Let us know what your granulocyte (or neutrophils), lymphocyte, and monocyte numbers are. And I agree about the ESR, or sedimentation rate. Inflammation is important during pregnancy, and this is why they say not to take any anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen. So your ESR is going to be through the roof, which is perfectly normal and will not tell the doctor anything. Besides, it's an extremely generalized test, and doesn't really test for specific types of inflammation.
