What is the lowest possible key in music.?

I know they repeat in different octaves,but which one is the lowest(First one). As a guitarist I thought it was E since that's the lowest note o a fretboard and that chord sounds lowest on me, but want to make sure, when transposing songs to different keys, for singers.
